Motherhood is…Quiet.

image

Sometimes, when we take the time to slow down, motherhood is about those really quiet moments. (Wanna know a secret? Those are my favorite moments!)

It’s the middle of the night feedings when the house is asleep and it’s just you and the babe.

It’s the summer mornings when daddy heads off to work and you and your boy watch morning cartoons while drinking a cup of coffee (and strawberry milk of course.)

It’s sneaking in his bedroom before you go to bed just to listen to him breathe and watch him peacefully sleep.

Motherhood is the most sacred when it is quiet.

Motherhood is…Pride.

image

My kid can jump the highest and throw the farthest and cast a fishing pole and is wise beyond his years!
My baby is the best, sweetest baby in the world.
Oh yeah, and they are definitely the cutest!
This is what motherhood is. Knowing that your children are the best and being incredibly proud to call them your own.

Growing these boys in my belly, giving birth to them, and raising them is what I am most proud of in my life.

Motherhood is…Embarrassing.

image

Tonight the sweet neighbor girl came over to play with Joshua in the backyard. She is 7 and the most polite, innocent, sweetest little thing! I look over and Joshua is at the top of the steps with his pants to his ankles, full frontal, urinating. Right in front of sweet little girl. I was mortified!!

And kids do things like that all the time! The other day Joshua is at the top of the McDonald’s Play Place and he yells down to me, “Mom! I just farted!”

Kids have no concept of what’s inappropriate. They don’t have morals or understand political correctness. And because of this, they embarrass their parents all the time!

Three.

My baby…this sweet little thing that completely changed my life…

image

…is three years old today.

image

And the baby is gone. Joshua has transformed into a little boy right before my eyes so quickly that I’m not even exactly sure when it happened.

He is without a doubt one of the BEST things that has ever happened to me.

image

He is ALL boy!! Burps and farts are hilarious despite my efforts to teach manners. The rougher the better when it comes to play and I’m pretty sure a body slam is just as loving as a hug in his book.

image

But there is another side to Joshua…he is a very sweet, sensitive, tender little guy. He can talk in the sweetest voice that just melts me. He brushes his hand along my cheek and tells me he loves me ALL the time (which I will never get tired of hearing!)

image

He is obsessed with Woody and Buzz Lightyear. This all started in August of 2014 when he found happy meal Buzz and Woody toys in my classroom. I let him have them and he has packed them around ever since. He has the movies, was Buzz Lightyear for Halloween and personally asked Santa Claus for “Woody with a pull string and Buzz with buttons” for Christmas.

Joshua adores his daddy. He follows Nathan all over the garage, repeats everything he says, and wants to be a hunter and fisherman like daddy when he grows up. During this last elk season Joshua said to his dad, “When I get bigger I’m going to go hunting with you and I’m going to shoot a bow and a arrow!”

image

And he is still new to the job, but Joshua is the best big brother!! He ADORES Grady. He always asks, “Can I touch him?”– holding his hand whenever possible. He sings to Grady when he fusses to try and calm him down and greets him with a, “Hi little man!” every morning. Joshua wants Grady to be big so bad he can’t stand it.;)

Joshua James is one of the best things in my life. He challenges me in so many ways, testing my patience and limits, but always making me strive to be a better person. I love being his mama and couldn’t ask for anything better than that.

Happy Birthday to my little boy.

(And let the three’s begin!)

Motherhood is…a Juggling Act.

image

It’s getting dinner cooked with a load of onsies in the dryer, turning Toy Story on for the 100th time while carrying a baby in one hand.

A juggling act.

I’ve learned how to do most things with one hand while a babe is in my other. 🙂
